About InstantBillOfSale
Selling a utility trailer or a used four-wheeler shouldn't require creating an account, handing over your email address, or paying for a "premium template." InstantBillOfSale exists to make the paperwork part of a private vehicle sale take five minutes: answer a few questions, print two copies, sign, done.
How we're different
- Actually free. No paywall, no watermark, no trial. The site is supported by advertising, so the documents can stay free for everyone.
- Private by design. The PDF is generated by JavaScript running in your browser. Names, addresses, VINs, and prices are never transmitted to our servers. We couldn't read them if we wanted to. Your draft is saved only in your own browser's local storage.
- State-aware. The generator warns you when your state requires notarization or provides an official form, and points you to the official source. Each rule we publish carries a "last reviewed" date.
- Built for the vehicles other sites ignore. Most template sites are built around cars. We put trailers, ATVs, and snowmobiles first, the vehicles that most often have no title, where the bill of sale really is the ownership record.
How we verify state rules
Every state-specific claim on this site (notarization requirements, title rules, official form numbers, registration procedures) is checked against primary sources before it is published: state statutes, DMV and DNR publications, and the agencies' own instruction sheets. Pages that carry state rules show a "last reviewed" date so you can see how fresh the information is. When a state's practice is ambiguous or varies by county, we say so instead of guessing, and we link you to the agency that has the final word.
When things change
State fees and procedures change, usually quietly. We re-review published rules periodically, and reader reports get priority: if a DMV clerk tells you something on this site is out of date, tell us and we will re-verify the rule against the current source and correct the page. The correction updates the page's "last reviewed" date.

We are not a law firm, and nothing on this site is legal advice. Our documents are general-purpose forms based on common requirements; state and county rules vary and change. For high-value sales or unusual situations, have a local attorney review your paperwork, and always confirm current requirements with your state DMV.
